DEFTONES - Private Music (2025)
I doubt that just electric guitars and pounding drums are enough to represent toughness. Nevertheless, this band’s presence endures: they are clearly liked, though not by me. I find it hard to see how distortion, yelling, and a rough sound can mesh with the harmonies and tunes of easy, almost school-level songs.
It’s definitely a well-crafted album, that’s undeniable. With every listen, the quality of the production becomes even more evident.
Music shapes perception: will this record move you deeply, or simply linger there for about a week of listening before being swapped for something equally (or maybe even more) intriguing?
Sic transit.
Amid today’s rush to consume content, I’m interested to see (and hear) how long this album will endure.
As for the sincerity of their motives, I’ll say nothing, since I know nothing of the true state of things.
