Asymmetrical Hearing: Notes from a Sbilenco Ear

BIOHAZARD - Divided We Fall (2025

Big surprise: finding out their new album is about to drop. It’s September 23 and I’m spinning the first tracks. Just leaving this note here to pick it up later. This stuff comes straight from the past — old-school vibes that at times bring Suicidal Tendencies to mind. Classic heaviness, simple but gloriously dumb riffs, and that truncha-truncha hardcore beat. Hardcore the way it’s meant to be. Lyrics? Still angry, still caustic. They make you think.

End of part one. Part two.

And here we are, with the rest of the album out. Same energy — still pissed off, still leaning even more toward ST. The drums hit like a hammer, pure no-frills drive. Guitar solos sound proudly old-school.

But the message is clear: it’s not about trends or style. When you’ve got something to say, the social or historical context doesn’t matter — nor does the pull of the mainstream.

They were (and still are) themselves — and they’re free.
